The easiest way to paint. Just pop in for a couple of hours. Pick a piece you would like to paint from our extensive range and we’ll show you how to paint it to best effect. Whilst you're painting there’s complimentary tea, coffee or soft drinks available.

You pay for the cost of the piece (anything from £4 for something simple to £40 for some of our really ambitious pieces) plus a session fee of £5.00* (this covers the glaze paints you use, the services of our staff and the firing of your piece).
*Session fee will be £6.00 from 1st October 2007
Most pieces requiring firing upon completion and are usually available for collection two weeks later. If you want to take something away with you on the day some items can be painted in stains but cannot be washed so are unsuitable for items such as plates, mugs and vases.
Pay-as-you-Paint is available during all opening hours subject to space being available – or think about a special Group Evening.
After School Painting
During school term time only on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and between 3 and 5.30 p.m. session fees are half price (£3.00). Advance booking essential.
(Members of Village Ceramics Painting Academy already entitled to half-price session fees pay only £1.00 session fee)

The history of mosaic goes back over 4,000 years but it was the Greeks, in around 400 BC who first turned the technique as an art form. By 200 BC, specially manufactured pieces (tesserae) were being used to give extra detail and range of colour to the work.

Using small tesserae, sometimes only a few millimetres in size, meant that mosaics could imitate paintings. Many of the mosaics preserved at, for example, Pompeii were the work of Greek artists.
Now, the art of Mosaics is available to everyone at Village Ceramics. We have introduced a range of designs including mirrors, picture frames and plaques together with many different coloured tesserae. You pay an inclusive price per piece that includes all materials, tuition and your first studio fee. If you need to come back again you just pay a reduced £3.00 studio fee.
